Milwaukee - Pittsburgh - Ann Arbor USA

USA

We were kindly invited to showcase our work in Milwaukee (WI), Pittsburgh (PA) and Ann Arbor (MI), thus embarking on an epic road trip, navigating the American Rust Belt in a Mercury Grand Marquis.

On the 15th of March we screened Scape_Time and LOUDTHINGS and performed Mortals Electric at the UWM Union Theatre in Milwaukee, by invitation of the excellent Ross Nugent, film maker and Union Theatre Programmer.
Golan Levin invited us to give a lecture on our work and screen the aforementioned short films in his Studio for Creative Inquiry on the 19th of March, during the wats:ON festival, at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
On the 23rd of March we gave a lecture on our work at the Electronic Media and Film Studies department of the Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.
We ended our tour on the 24th of March. Program director and film maker David Dinnell invited us to the longest running independent and experimental film festival in North America: the Ann Arbor Film Festival; with the same double screening and performance we shook a gorgeous historic golden temple of cinema: Ann Arbor’s Michigan Theater.

12_series at IFFR

We are very happy to announce the exhibition of our 12_series installation as part of this years International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Our twelve thunderous image and sound generating machines will open up the vast pitch-black architecture of the former Rotterdam dockside warehouse Pakhuismeesteren. Inspired by the principles of evolution and decentralized autonomous decision making, the machines produce an endless improvisation based on audiovisual imitation, mutation and recombination, aiming for the emergence of captivating complexity from a vocabulary of rudimentary shapes, sounds and logic.

The exhibition is located at Pakhuismeesteren, Wilhelminakade 52-58, and is opened daily between 12:00 and 20:00 from January 27th until February 5th 2011.
Pakhuismeesteren is one of the forty extra festival locations accessible with the XL pass. During the festival the pass can be bought at the central box office at the Doelen or at the festival location LantarenVenster down the street from the Pakhuismeesteren.

12_series at IFFR 2011 is made possible with the generous support of DKC Rotterdam.
